- Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of processes of the youth migration in the Republic of Buryatia and the assessment of its possible consequences for the development of the region. The predominant orientation (centripetal for intraregional and western for interregional movements), types (educational and labor), age peaks (15-19 and 25-29 years old) and reasons for youth migration in Buryatia are determined on the basis of Buryatstat data and the questionnaire survey of students of graduation courses of full-time departments of colleges and universities of the republic (2018). As a result the author comes to the conclusion about the dramatic consequences of the growing outflow of young people every year: a worsening demographic situation, a shortage of professional staff, depopulation of the border region, and proposes a number of measures to ensure the preservation of young people in the region.
