- t. The article is devoted to researches in the field of discursive capabilities and to the prospects openingin this direction. The concept of discursive capabilities is based on communication as an independent andspecific form of the subject’s activity. The result of communication is a relationship with another person orwith other people. Discursive capabilities determine the effectiveness of situational and event communicationwith the help of linguistic means at the disposal of communicating people. Discursive capabilities allow aperson to effectively initiate, support, deploy and complete the communication process, using languagetools appropriate to a particular situation. The article presents the results of empirical research in the field ofdiscursive capabilities: the development of diagnostic techniques, the empirical verification of the construct“discursive capabilities”, the definition of the place of discursive capabilities in the structure of cognitivecapabilities, the influence of discursive capabilities on the effectiveness of collective intellectual activity. Thearticle presents perspective directions of research in this field: the determination of the place of discursivecapabilities in the structure of the human psyche, the development of methods for diagnosing the effectivenessof communication on the basis of test data in solving communicative tasks, the study of discursive capabilitiesa specific factor of intelligence – the “natural language of describing the problem and/оr instructions”,the study of the influence of discursive capabilities on various types of collective activities, the study of therelationship between personal communication, level of development of discursive capabilities and the powerof cognitive resources.
