Abstract
The Temporal Experience of Pleasure Scale (TEPS) has been designed to measure the ability of experiencing pleasure at different time points - while waiting for a future reward (anticipatory pleasure) and when directly engaged in a pleasurable activity (consummatory pleasure). The purpose of this study was to adapt TEPS for Russian population and to compare psychometric characteristics of the Russian version to those in the western and eastern cultures. Basic (434 people aged between 16 and 77 years, 57% women) and replication (354 conscripts, only men, aged 18-27 years) samples were used. We analyzed the distribution of the average values of the integrated indicators of the scale, internal consistency and retest reliability; confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses of the TEPS as well as assessment of convergent and divergent validity of the Ant and Con subscales were conducted. It is shown that the Russian version of the TEPS has psychometric properties and two-factor structure comparable to those of the original English version of the scale, and is sensitive to a situational context that influences availability of rewarding stimuli.
