- Abstract
- Main prepositions of parametric theory of small groups proposed by L.I. Umansky and his pupils are discussed. The ideas of parametric theory of collectives were developed in the second half of 1960-th and the beginning of 1970-th in Kursk and Kostroma scientific schools, at the period when generally accepted approach to small groups' study was not elaborated by domestic social psychology. Elaborated by the Soviet psychology principles of action and personality as well as complex and system approaches became methodological and theoretic basis for parametric theory. Based on the principle of unity of theory, experiment and practice that was laid down by V.M. Bekhterev, S.L. Rubinstein, B.F. Lomov, non-experimental and experimental methods were use for the theory elaboration on the basis of real youth groups' under the conditions of joint activity study. Main theoretical propositions were verified and specified in the course of natural formative experiment. Based on parametric theory, the model of group development which is the model of successive stages with complete development is described. Main propositions of long-term theoretical and experimental researches within the scope of parametric theory are: subject conception of a small group; model of multiethnic student group as a subject for psychological support to its members; study of psychological mechanisms of group reliability under intensive and extreme conditions of joint activity; forms of value-motivational involvement of group into social organizations of different level, etc. The researches, on the one hand, confirmed heuristic resources of parametric model for understanding of social psychology of small groups and, on the other, - made it possible to amplify conception and modify methodological block. The conclusion that the modern version of parametric theory describes social status of group as a subject of joint activity in the system of social organizations (intergroup activity) and subject of psychological support for its members (intra-group activity) promoting harmonization of socially significant values of individuals, group and society is drawn.
