- Abstract
- Ya.A. Ponomarev's ideas about different modes of interaction of the components of mental activity were used to study the relationships between creativity, intelligence, and personality traits in technical university students that are learning on technical and humanitarian faculties. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the verbal originality to a lesser extent than the figural originality is predicted by personality, especially in the group of mathematics. In humanitarian students, originality of thinking relates to the intelligence and such personality traits as “novelty seeking” and “dependence on rewards”. Different regression models of the original thinking in students of technical and humanist professions may reflect a widespread variability of creative activity strategies that are associated with different combinations of intellectual and personal characteristics.
