Abstract
A multifactor inventory called “Multifactor Inventory of Labor Activity Motivation (MILAM) is designedto assess work motivation. The methodics given allows to diagnose a multifactor structure of work motivation, which is composed of 25 primary and 2 secondary indexes elaborated on the basis of behavioralindices. The primary scales admit to assess positive and negative motives of labor activity in accordancewith the performed content conception of work motivation offered by the authors. The secondary scalessingled out in the result of cluster analysis made up of a complex of positive (success expectation) andnegative (avoiding failures) motives of labor activity. The developed psychological inventory includesan instruction, 100 statements, the agreement with which the testee expresses on a special form sheet ona seven-point scale, the key to processing the primary data, approximate norms, worked out for 2 groups(women and men) for transmitting the raw points to steins, a manual for interpreting the results. Empirical basement of the inventory is performed by means of marking out behavioral indicators, ranged by 7experts. The verification of discriminatory power and difficulty of the test items and its standardizationare carried out on the sample of 200 people composed of 4 age groups (20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59 yearsold). The evaluation of test-retest reliability, internal consistency and construct validity is performed onthe sample of 150 people. It is proved that presented methodics possesses a sufficient level of test-retestreliability, the assignments of the test carry a high level of discriminatory and are coherent, each scale hasa sufficient or high level of construct validity. The test approbation permitted to reveal significant differences in the labor activity motivation between the respondents of different age groups, women and men.The established differences represent an additional confirmation of discriminative ability and criterialvalidity of the test and also highlight the perspectives of investigating peculiarities of work motivation,determined by sex and age.
