Abstract
We have attempted to investigate a nature of insight using the study of dynamics of analytical and synthetic processes in insight problem solving. The results of experimental research of creative (insight) problem solving processes via the dynamics of working memory load are shown. We have proposed a method of allocation of insight problem solving stages via monitoring of working memory load by a probe task. There are significant differences between insight and algorithmized problem solving. There are two main peaks of working memory load in insight problem solving at the initial and final stages. Algorithmized problems demonstrate single peak (“hump”) of working memory load in the middle of problem solving. There are permanent dynamics of analytical and synthetic process in insight problem solving.
