Abstract
Empirical data justifying theoretical statements of the authors model of group cohesion is presented. The hypothesis that two types of cohesion - object - action and socio-psychological, each including two forming grounds - organizational /group interests and individual interests, positive interrelations and personal benefi ts, can be revealed in small group and in informal subgroups is verifi ed on the sample of 22 industrial groups of different fi elds of activity (n = 280). Moderate positive correlation between types and negative correlation between forming grounds of cohesion was found and it is signifi cantly lower in informal subgroups than in group in tote. Types of group cohesion are conditioned by relations between informal subgroups, representatives of subgroups and off-duty members.
