Abstract
The paper presents validation of the Russian version of the Early Childhood Behavior Questionnaire (ECBQ) for measuring temperament. Adequate reliability for 18 ECBQ scales was demonstrated in a sample of 256 toddlers between the ages of 16 and 37 months. Age differences are presented. The analysis of the higher-order structure of early temperament confirmed the three factor model. The associations between temperament and behavior problems support the importance of individual differences in shaping development pathways toward adjustment or deviant outcomes.
