Abstract
It is considered that self-reflexion of psychology has reduced mainly to methodological reflexion and not to thedevelopment of psychological knowledge.At the same time the analysis of present situation in psychologicalcommunity as well as its interrelations with society are the issue of the day and these should become the objectof sociology of psychology. The author summarizes the main tendencies in the development of world and domestic psychological community and interrelations between psychological science and practice in the presentday Russian society. He makes it clear that psychological culture of our society is a “closed” one and psychology occupies an unpretentious place in comparison with other sociohumanitarian sciences, which is inconsistent with its possibilities and ambitions.
