Abstract
The concept of “intellectual competency” is considered as special form of intellectual maturity of people who achieved high success in certain activity. Studying intellectual competency, some problems arise, that can be solve by researching personal mental experience. The results of empirical research of conceptual and metacognitive experience of “experts” (university lecturers of physics department involved in scientific activity) and “novices” (students of physico-mathematical department) are presented. Comparing novices, experts, firstly, formed more complex semantic relations dealing with concepts, secondly, have reflexive style, good metacog-nitive knowledge and produced more complex prognostic models.
