Abstract
Common grounds for cognitive metaphor theory and cultural-historical theory by L. Vygotsky are emphasized.It is marked that there are statements in Vygotsky’s works that can be used for further cognitive metaphor theory development. In particular, situation of social interaction which determines metaphorical character of experience attaching can be considered as a primary referent providing notion with meaning.
