Abstract
This paper investigates a relationship between attributional styles and character traits on 120 SS (60 men and 60 women, averaged age 26.9). It was shown that summary score on bad events (the scale of “Pessimism”) did not differ significantly between men and women. However, the summary score on good events (the scale of “Optimism”) was significantly higher in men. In men attributional styles did not form a single common factor with character traits. In women “Pessimism” entered the same factor as Emotivity, Anxiety and Disthimicity. “Optimism” formed a common factor with Hyperthimicity, Obstinacy, Demonstrativeness and Disthimicity (with opposite sign).
