- Abstract
- The results of the empirical research on perception and estimation of automobile engines' noise by different groups of users are discussed. The method of free verbalization distinguishing significant factors of noise char acteristics was applied. Complex analysis of preferences and verbal data showed the peculiarities of perceptionof noise of professional experts, specialists working on automobile plant and common customers. The gender and age differences in noise perception were found, too. The data obtained showed that analysis of verbaliza tions allows to check up the criteria of subjects preferences. The conclusion is made that it is enough to use little group of specialists working on automobile plant to estimate the peculiarities of noise.
