Abstract

The article provides an overview of the fragments of the biography of the prominent Russian writer, ethnographer and lexicographer VladimirDahl. Particular attention is drawn to the work on his Dictiona ry. It is noted the relevance of his Dictionary of contemporary philological practice. The article discusses the importance of «the living great Russian language» by V. Dahl for secular and spiritual education.
