Abstract
The article examines the life world of Russians in the conditions of market transformations of the Russian economy. Changes in socio-economic indicators of the labor market as an objective basis for the social status of Russians are analyzed. Based on a comparison of data from sociological surveys of the Russian population in 1990 and 2012, it is concluded that the population as a whole adapted to the market economy, but the adaptation occurred in a deformed way, when official, legal relations were very often replaced by informal ties, the creation of a shadow “network society". This allowed, on the one hand, to mitigate and neutralize the consequences of liberal reforms, on the other hand, contributed to the flourishing of corruption, bribery, embezzlement and crime. It is these phenomena that “split” the life world of Russians, give rise to a “culture of cynicism”, a sense of injustice and distrust.
