- Abstract
- The results of theoretical analysis of mentality problem are presented. The structure of the phenomenon is examined, their essential characteristics, functions in person and society development and relation with culture are revealed. The necessity to apply system approach as a condition for mentality peculiarity revealing has been grounded. Based on works of such researchers as N. A. Berdyaev, N. O. Losskjj, K. D. Kavelin, I. V. Kireevskjj, V. O. Klyuchevskjj, D. S. Likhachev, M. P. Pogodin et al. psychological characteristics of Russian people (piety, conciliarism, patience, ability to endure hardships, patriotism, priority of spiritual values over material ones, "thirst for justice", searching for truth desire, etc for "truth searching" etc.) have been highlighted. Factors of Russian mentality formation (nature-geographical, peculiarities of historical development, way of life and every-day culture, the role of orthodoxy as a spiritual grounds and language et al.) have been examined. Relationship between traditionality and innovation in mentality development has been analyzed.
