- Abstract
- The authors approach to the study of psychological aspects of man's trust and distrust to technical equipment is presented. Comparative research of manifestation of trust and distrust to technical equipment in workers and users in different professional spheres has been conducted. Subjects' notions about characteristics of technical equipment which they trust or distrust, emotional experience and peculiarities of their behavior when interacting with equipment have been studied. Representatives of three groups of people who interact with technical equipment participated in the study: 382 locomotive drivers, 276 car drivers and 132 transport passengers (including 68 railway passengers and 64 car passengers). Overall sample consisted of 790 persons. It was defined that there were differences in criteria, emotional experience and behavioral manifestations of man's trust and distrust to technical equipment. Trust and distrust to technical equipment was proved to be interconnected but relatively independent psychological phenomena. Differences in subjective criteria of trust and distrust to technical equipment subject to different forms of interaction with it have been revealed.
