- Abstract
- The approaches toward studying technophobia as psychological phenomenon are described (clinical, marketing, industrial-psychological, constructionionistic, interactionistic). The article examines factors affecting person's attitudes toward new technologies (informational technologies, nanotechnologies, biotechnologies, social technologies). The socio-cultural context of technophobia is described; the cognitive, affective and behavioral components of technophobic attitudes are defined. The role of interpersonal and intergroup interaction in the new technologies adoption is stressed. The differences between attitudes toward nano- and biotechnologies are interpreted throw their involvement in the group identification and social comparison. The role of social identity and intergroup relations in the new technology acceptance is discussed. The directions for further psychological research are proposed: attitudes toward emerging smart environment (telepresence, Big Data, internet of things, neuronet), relationships between humans and things acting as nonhuman persons, group and intergroup factors of technophobia, co-creation.
