- Criteria of social psychology as a branch of psychological science formation are analyzed by the example of its history in Russia and the USA. V.M. Behterevs views on comprehensive (complex) study of man, his contribution to domestic social psychology formation, his ideas about its object, tasks, system of notions and principles of peoples interactions are considered in details. Special attention is paid to the discussion of the role of experimental method in socio-psychological researchers. The existence of V.M. Behterevs scientifi c school in Russian social psychology is substantiated, the meaning of his works for modern social psychology development is revealed.
