Peculiarities of subject area of historical psychology as integrated field of knowledge developing as the result of interaction of psychology with a number of socio-humanitarian sciences are considered in the article; its theoretical "niche" in the system of present-day psychological science is revealed; practical importance of historical-psychological researches for actual social-significant problems solving is based in the article. Main areas of empirical researches in the sphere of historical psychology, conducted in the laboratory of history of psychology and historical psychology of Institute of Psychology RAS are presented.
