- Abstract
- On the basis of L.M. Vekker’s unified theory of mental processes the nature of conceptual psychic structures (concepts) as integral mental formations: complexity of cognitive composition and different-level principle of organization are analyzed. The results of two independent empirical studies are given. According to factor analysis data, cognitive organization of concept can be described by means of such properties as hierarchicity, informational capacity, selectivity, intensity. Index of concept forming is connected with the indices of verbal (fluency, originality) and nonverbal (constructive activity) creativity. Findings demonstrating the unity of convergent and divergent aspects of intellectual activity serve for development of L.M. Vekker’s ideas on conceptual thinking as a form of intelligence integral activity.
