- Abstract
- The paper deals with the critical analysis of wisdom criteria in psychology. The structural approach to wisdom is supposed to be enriched with a processual one. The latter is focused on the study of decision-making process by “wisdomlike” people (P. Baltes) in complicated life situations. Criteria of factual and procedural knowledge, contextualism, relativism and indefiniteness are presented; besides, there is a criterion for revealing the tendency to alter, which is characteristic for external and internal world of a person, social groups, comprehension of some future trends in present, the anticipation of decision sequences. It is proved that wisdom is a rare gift that has a psychogenetic basis - it reveals through the whole course of human life. The problem of correlation of such notions as “wisdom” and “life experience” is stated. Also the position of K. Jung on the matter of wisdom is considered.
