Abstract

Interrelation between rate of mental operations and time amplitude charachleristics of components of brain potentials related to information processing was studied. The results obtained show that acceleration of the optimal tempo of perceptive and intellectual operations is connected with the increase of the amplitude of the two main registered components of the brain potentials: the component P300 and the following slow negative shift; it can be explained with the higher intensity, synchronization and better organization of the processes of mental and controlling operations. Amplitude indices of all the three components investigated (N100, P300, Slow Negative Shift) suggest the advantageous role of frontal areas of the left hemisphere as compared with the right one as regards both the increase of the optimal tempo and intellectual complicating of operations.
