Abstract
The article discusses the semantics of the default aspectual construction in the Dan Gueta language (<southern mande <mande <niger-kongo). In this language, the meanings of species, tense, modality and polarity are expressed collectively by the pronominal predicative indicator and the verb form. The construction of "neutral type", depending on the lexical semantics of the verb, on the presence of additions and sirconstants, on the pragmatic status of actants, can express a rich spectrum of aspectual meanings: habitualis, stative, counterfactual, progressive, imperfect, resultant / perfect and completeness, despite the fact that the language also has specialized constructs for most of these meanings. Possible interpretations of the nuclear semantics of the neutral type and its origin are discussed.
